One Sunday night 20 years ago, my wife showed up at 9:00 PM — to drop off dinner at a client site — for the consultants. I came to greet her in the parking lot, grabbed the food, kissed her goodnight – and dashed back to the war room. I’ve lost count
of how many times she has come to my rescue.

During this time of year, thousands of roses and chocolates are bought to show love or appreciation for someone. However, in the book Love Languages, author Gary Chapman talks about five other ways people can show love. They are kind words, quality time, gifts, acts of service, and physical touch.

As proposal professionals, we can be pulled from proposal to proposal and may forget to thank the people who support us. Maybe we need more hugs instead of pizza to get us through that last review. Or “Hey, that was an excellent management plan you put together!”

Every chance I get, I try to tell our staff, consultants and customers how much I appreciate them! And from time to time, I love to treat them to lunch.

Here are some gift ideas for proposal professionals:

  1. UberEATS gift card
  2. Massage at a spa like the Grooming Lounge for men, or Elizabeth Arden for women
  3. Tickets to the movie theater, play or a concert
  4. A bottle of their favorite beverage
  5. Weekend or overnight trip at a B&B
